Day 2 - On Trans Canada Highway

After a good night at Miriam and Sławek's house I headed to Trans Canada Highway, which is one of the longest highways in the world. The expedition has just started and it was .... raining... what a bad day. I walked few kilometers through a smal city next to Victoria - Langford, than I changed my plans and I was walking on a abandoned rails. Really? It's not very pleasant, my feet hurts... But I was in a forest for the first time since Victoria.

I was walking around Langford Lake through a forest (and mountains!) and I get to TC Highway. What a disaster! Walking on a highways is boriing and dangerous, cars are pssing just next to me, but I didn't have a choice at that part of the road. Just imagine - rain, low visibility and trucs next to you. But the story begins right here.

After a few kiometers on a highway it was clear my safety was extremely low, terrible fog appeared and visibility went down to 50m... Wherever I could I was walking behind the concrete wall, sometimes it was better. I had all my red lights activated. Big truck passed and blew away my rain poncho. my backpack cover became visible. It's great because it's yllow and reflects light.

It was getting dark, I was still on a highway. I was heading towards Malahat and after a long ascend I finally aarrived there! Nothing special, 3-4 buildings, gas station, hotel for 150$ a nightand a motel. I decided to stay there due to safety concerns. I had a dinner in a restaurant nearby and I returned to my room. The day was difficult, it was raining, raining, raining, raining, raining....all the time. It didn't stop even for a second! You know, if I didn't have my poncho from www.sklepdlaturysty.pl I would be completely wet!

I felt asleep tired and exhausted...
