Day 6 - Faith In humanity restored
Last day was full of different adventures. I woke up and I still had them in my mind. The morning was cold, but the sun was rising quickly and the weather became nice so that I was able to spend 15min to dry everything. I looked at the map - I was no ore than 10km from Chemainus, small city next to Ladysmith so I decided to have some snacks for breakfast, go there and have a good dinner. The road was very nice, there were a small street, no sidewalk, but just enough space for people to walk.
It took me a moment to walk there, I found Cowichan Valley Trail one more time, it was continuing there. And suddenly, from the trail I saw something I was waiting for! A restaurant! Fortunately it was open, there were just a few people. It was just a moment for me to believe what I found, I ordered some chicken with fries salad and a lot of drinks and after a few minutes I was eating! Maybe you remember my photo from facebook? Check it here!
I meet two great people there, we were talking about my adventure, I gave them my stickers and they found me on facebook, later on I found it really important!
I spent like 90 minutes there, eating, talking, charging all my batteries and finally I decided to go. The weather was nice, I was walking on a trail, my stomach was full, great day! I was walking towards Ladysmith, at some point my trail ended so I was walking next to the street. I always walk on the left side to see the cars from the opposite side, but there were not enough place, so for safety I decided to walk on the right side, you know, you need to adapt to the situation.
When I was getting closer to Ladysmith it was getting darker and darker every minute, morale went down, something strange happened in my head. I arrived too Ladysmith and I realized I can't camp there and the city was really long. I thought I went through but I didn't even started, the downtown was still ahead of me. I found myself in a difficult situation, I didn't want to pay like 60-70$ per night in a motel or somewhere. I found a shopping mall, I literally thought it was the best I could find, I was sitting in McDonalds as it was open 24/7, they had wifi and water to drink.
You know, I posted some message on facebook that I am gonna sleep in mcdonalds, tht I feel bad, lost and tired and probably 2 ladies I met before shared this message somewhere and the entire community of Ladysmith saved me! The equipment was kind of dirty, I was dirty, you know, I was smelling really bad! I was invited for a night by a very nice family, I was in downtown Ladysmith! Thank you so much! I had my laundry, that day was stressful for me, I was mentally tired and this family restored my faith in humanity!
Special thanks to my savers - great family from Ladysmith! It was a great day for me, I didn't believe it might have happened!
